PBH Rail’s Role in Delivering a New Rail Logistics Hub in Hull

PBH Rail is proud to have worked alongside Network Rails partnership with Voestalpine Turnout Technology UK Ltd (vaTTUK) to deliver a state-of-the-art rail logistics hub at the arrival/departure siding near Hessle East Junction in Hull.

This facility will streamline the delivery of railway points equipment manufactured at vaTTUK’s site in Germany. Initially, the equipment will support the HS2 programme, significantly reducing HGV traffic and promoting more sustainable transportation methods. Over time, the hub will also serve other major rail contracts, further reinforcing its importance in the rail logistics network.

PBH Rail collaborated with ESDD, Freight, and Operations teams to design and deliver the hand point operated turnout during the Christmas period. Safety and efficiency were at the forefront of this project, as the work also included closing an unofficial level crossing, eliminating a safety risk. Additionally, safer access was provided for teams to the former Speedlink sidings and the main lines to and from Hull.

We are delighted to have played a pivotal role in this project, which not only supports critical infrastructure projects like HS2 but also enhances safety and operational capabilities in the region. This success exemplifies PBH Rail’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and delivering impactful solutions across the rail industry.
