2003
After working together previously and forming a strong bond Darren Pudsey, Cecil Becker and Paul Harper pool their knowledge and experience together and take the leap to start up their own Permanent Way design company. Thus, PBH Rail is born. Due to their expertise and ability to turn out designs quickly, PBH Rail soon develop a reputation for being a reliable and efficient P-Way design firm. Founded in 2003 by Darren Pudsey, Cecil Becker and Paul Harper (PBH), the company have since expanded significantly with over 100 employees over 5 areas of business. 2005
PBH Rail becomes the sole supplier to Jarvis of Plain Line Survey and Design on the LNE Region. During this time, they welcome Mark Bonner and others to the expanding team. PBH Rail further improves on its reputation within the industry and the team develop a strong working relationship with Network Rail.
2006
After renting office space in York for a couple of years, the team decides to acquire the Old Coach House on Custance Walk. The purchase sees the opening of the first PBH Rail office giving the team much more space and opportunities. Over the next few years, the team begins to grow along with it the ability to offer more bespoke services.
2014
PBH Rail launch their second division, PBH OLE after working regularly with Warren Bain, Mike Shemilt and Steven Byrne. The three take up Director’s roles and begin supporting many Overhead Line projects across the country.
2015
Hoping to further their development, the company expands further by starting up their Surveys division led by Matt Chilton. Many seasoned professionals are chosen to join the PBH team, contributing to PBH Surveys’ impressive growth. The company is proud to feature some of the industry’s leading experts in planning, surveying and data processing.
2020
PBH Rail successfully acquires Bonnerrail, significantly strengthening its market position. This acquisition enhances PBH Rail’s capabilities, expands its service offerings, and solidifies its reputation as a leader in the rail industry, allowing the company to better serve its clients and pursue new opportunities for growth.
2021
With the addition of Wayne Feery and Ben Dugher, the company launches its fourth division, Track Engineering. This growth enables the company to manage rail projects from planning stages all the way through to implementation.
2024
The latest development introduces Civils Consulting, led by Gary Robson and Steve Scott with Lin Lee taking on the role of Principal Geotechnical Engineer to provide geotechnical support to the business. Immediately after its launch, work begins to pour in, and the team is quickly put to task.
