Alongside our P-way team we provide a fully comprehensive design service for all aspects of track design including the track, trackbed, drainage, sub-grade and formation, ensuring a tailored solution for every site.

Our services include lineside infrastructure development, providing durable and compliant solutions for essential civil engineering projects alongside railways. Our staff have significant experience of working through the rail corridor and have a firm understanding of the multidisciplinary equipment, structures, cable routes, buried services and many the interfaces encountered such that our design solutions are fully considered and address the necessary complexities whilst remaining practical and cost effective.

The design of structures is a fundamental part of all of our offered services. Our engineers are vastly experienced in the design of structures across the rail sector from bridges to buildings and everything in between. We design to modern standards, design codes and codes of practice but also are fully conversant with historic codes and approaches to allow us to consider the impact of our designs on existing structures that remain and for assessment of structures for remedial works solutions.

We offer specialist condition reviews of structures, delivering thorough assessments to support maintenance and restoration strategies. We offer professional advice and reporting along with informed guidance and options for a range of structures, in particular, specialising in masonry arch structures.

Our team provides design services for stations and depots, ensuring functional and accessible infrastructure. With a wide understanding of requirements, issues and stakeholder interfaces we offer services from platform alterations to the design of full new facilities. Our team have a firm understanding of inclusive design and capability to deliver Access for All schemes, buildings, station access and car parking.

We offer the planning, specification, procurement and supervision of ground investigations to inform permanent or temporary works designs. This can be offered alongside the services of our PBH Surveys colleagues and to complement our design services such that we offer a full in-house service to give peace of mind that all investigations and designs are fully integrated and co-ordinated and facilitate a ‘right-first-time’ approach.

As experienced Civil Engineers and designers, we are able to offer our services to carry out the role of Principal Designer under CDM 2015. With that experience, we have the understanding and capability to manage the identification of hazards and ensure that risks are adequately addressed and communicated effectively throughout the preconstruction phase of the project. We will support the Principal Contractor through the construction phase for any specialist design and temporary works whenever required and assist with compiling the Health and Safety file from preconstruction through to completion.
